A bilingual broadcast in Japanese and English today! We show you how girls have changed by the beautiful magic.
Today’s guests were girls from the Philippines. Hazel and Joanne who got makeup done by Ilona Krautsova, a professional makeup artist from Belarus.

今週も、女性がたくさんのMy Eyes Tokyoです。今から良い思いをしてしまうと後が大変なので、今回はちょっと自らに負荷を与えようと（笑）日本語と英語のバイリンガルで放送しました。
今週のゲストは、前回ベラルーシ出身のメイクアップアーティスト、クラウツォヴァ・イロナさんの手によるメイクで華麗に変身した女の子たち、ヘーゼルさんとジョアンさんです。

Ilona did their makeup for a night party. She put brighter colors on their faces because they were going out in the night. They are very cute, aren’t they? Of course their faces without makeups are also sweet.

まず、イロナさんが２人に施したのは「夜のパーティー用メイク」。夜だからちょっと明るめのメイクにしてみました、とのことですが、いかがでしょう？すっごくカワイくて、キレイですよね！もちろん、すっぴんがカワイイからこそ、なんですが。

Two girls came to Japan to learn elderly care. They are only 18 and 21 but really admirable. Moreover they take classes in Japanese even though they’ve been in Japan only for about 1 month and their Japanese is at that beginning stage!

そんなお２人は、何と老人介護の勉強をするために日本に来たのだそうです。まだ１８歳と２１歳なのに、本当に立派だな〜と思いました。しかも、まだ来日して１ヶ月ほどで、日本語はまだまだ勉強中にもかかわらず、日本語で授業を受けているんですよ！

Generally speaking, Filipinos are good at taking care of others. When you look at a BB at the National Azabu Supermarket, you’ll find bills that are written like “I can baby-sit for your child”. Those are written by Filipinos. Also I’ve heard that there are many Filipino nurses in the US.
I guess they seemed to get influenced by such an environment. They told us they came to Japan because they were interested in Japan or the Japanese language. But that’s not all.

フィリピンは、世界的に見ても「人の世話をする」のが好きだったり、得意だったりする人が多いのが特徴。ナショナル麻布など、外国人が多く買い物に来るスーパーの掲示板には「私、ベビーシッターできます！」と言う張り紙が必ず貼ってあって、そのどれもがフィリピンから来た人だったりします。他にも、アメリカの病院にはフィリピン人の看護婦さんがたくさんいると聞いたことがあります。
そういう環境に影響を受けたと思われるお２人ですが、「何故日本で介護の勉強を？」と言えば、日本や日本語への興味・・・だけではないんです。

Some of their family members are living in Tokyo and they brought girls over here. Now they’re struggling with the language barrier and studying to be caregivers. Back them up together!

彼女たちのご家族の何人かが都内にいて、その方々が彼女たちを日本に呼んだそうです。２人の日本への興味と、そばに呼び寄せたかったご家族の愛情が重なって、彼女たちは今、言葉の壁と闘いながら日本で勉強している。そんな若く健気な２人を、皆さんも応援してあげてくださいね。

I tell you one more thing which I’m enthusiastic about. I started to make dresses of yukatas, summer cotton kimonos. I show you a piece of work.

先週に続き、最近夢中になっていることパート２です。着物ドレスに続き、夏らしい浴衣でもドレスを作り始めました！ここで皆さんにお披露目しちゃいますね。

Looking cool, isn’t it? But I won’t wear it because it’s kind of shorty. So I want a young girl to put on.
Clothing fabric of yukata is harder than kimono’s so it’s difficult for me to make loose-bodied one. So dresses that are made of yukatas must be tight. That’s also the reason it suits for young girls. Oh, I came up with an idea! I’m going to ask girls from the Philippines to try it!

涼しそうでしょう？でも、残念ながら私は着ません・・・だってドレスの長さがちょっと短いから、もっと若い女の子に着てほしいです（笑）
着物よりも生地が硬いので、ふわっとしたデザインのものを作るのは難しいんです。だからどうしても、体のラインに沿ったものになります。それもあって、若い子の方が似合うんです。あ、そうだ♪ 先週からスタジオに遊びに来てくれている若いフィリピン人の女の子たちに着てもらおうっと！

Today we had many girls in the studio and talked about the “beauty of women”. I asked Ekaterina and Ilona, a Belarussian makeup artist who talked on the radio last month, about their treatments.
Also two foreign girls got their makeup by Ilona during the show. For women, it’s an envious experience, isn’t it? Thanks, Ilona san!

今週は、たくさんの女性たちで華やいだ茅場町のスタジオでした。そして夏にふさわしい「女性の美」をテーマに、２人の美人女性にお話をお聞きしました。一人がおなじみエカテリーナさん、そしてもう一人がベラルーシ出身のクラウツォヴァ・イロナさん・・・皆さん覚えていますか？６月１２日の放送にご出演いただいた、プロのメイクアップアーティストです。しかも今回は、スタジオで番組を進めている間に、イロナさんに２人の外国人女性にプロのメイク術を施していただくという超ゼイタクなことまでさせていただきました。イロナさん、ありがとうございました♪

Recently I took up a new hobby. You know I’ve been making stage costumes of kimonos. And I began to use fragments of them to create stuffed animals.

最近、またひとつ新しい趣味ができました。私が着物でステージ衣装を作ってるのはご存知だと思いますが、その時に出た着物の切れ端で、いろんな動物のぬいぐるみを作っているんです。

They are cute, aren’t they? Many people want them. I would like to make more dolls and give them to my fans and our listeners.
かわいくないですか？すでに、いろんな人が欲しいって言ってくれています。もっとたくさん作って、ファンの方やこの番組を聴いて下さっている方にお譲りすることができたらいいな、と思ってます。

BTW, I held my concert at a live house called “Qui” near Tokyo’s Ueno Park on July 19. I sang Japanese/Russian/European/classic songs including “Turandot”.
ところで７月１９日（月・祝）、上野公園そばにある「池之端ライブスペース Qui（き）」でソロコンサートをしました。とっても信頼しているピアニスト、豊嶋裕子さんの伴奏で、日本やロシアの曲はもちろん、フランス語やイタリア語の歌、シャンソン、そして「トゥーランドット」などのクラシック曲を歌いました。

I wore a new dress on a first half. It completed that morning, it means I stayed up to make it.
1stステージは、気合を入れて作った新作の着物ドレス。ライブの日の朝まで、寝ずに作ったんです（笑）

A big crowd came to the livehouse in the second half. I was dressed in a refreshingly cool kimono dress and welcomed them. I’m a singer who doesn’t get nervous in front of many people. Rather I feel tension when I’m in front of a few people. So I could enjoy singing more in the latter half.

2ndステージから、お客さんがどっと来てくれました。私は、模様替えして夏らしい涼しげな着物ドレスでお出迎え。私はお客さんが多くなればなるほど、緊張しないタイプなんです。なので、2ndステージではもっと楽しんで歌うことができました。

I performed with my dolls! 私が作ったぬいぐるみたちと、初めての共演です。

Audience can order eel meals at that livehouse so some enjoyed both food and my singing voice. As for me, I always get energy from your wonderful smiles and supports!

このライブハウスでは、うなぎ料理も注文できるとあって、一部のお客様がおいしいお料理を召し上がりながら、私の歌を楽しんでくれていました。本当にありがとうございます。私は皆さんの笑顔や応援で、いつも精をつけさせていただいています（笑）

Today’s broadcast started with my voice training. It was neither a dead air nor interference. It was not much more than having revealed the limit of my singing ability. Even though I’m such a terrible singer, Mr. Hisao Nishiwaki, a leader of a Japanese chorus group called “Bonny Jacks”, gave me warm advices and guidances.

We’ve told you about a story of the encounter between Nishiwaki san and Ekaterina last time. Then today Nishiwaki san told us about the series of events leading up to their joint appearance. Also he talked about Ekaterina’s masterpieces such as “A Story of An Old Castle” and “Polar Bear”, which were broadcasted on “Minna no Uta” (Everyone’s Song), an NHK TV program.

Every single activity he’s done stems from his love for her singing voice. He wanted to bring it to Japanese people as many as possible. Nishiwaki san told us that he feels Ekaterina is like his daughter. They are strongly tied with “family love” which was developed across the border.

めちゃくちゃ恥ずかしい、僕の発声練習から始まった今週のMy Eyes Tokyo。放送事故とか混信ではなく、僕の素の歌唱力なので、どうかご勘弁下さい（涙）

そんな僕を厳しくも温かく指導して下さったのは、先週からゲストでいらしている、日本を代表するコーラスグループ「ボニージャックス」のリーダー、西脇久夫さんです。

先週は、西脇さんとエカテリーナさんとの出会いのエピソードを中心にお送りしましたが、今週はお二人がステージで共演を果たすまでの経緯を語っていただきました。また西脇さんがプロデュースし、NHK「みんなのうた」で放送された『古いお城のものがたり』と『ホッキョクグマ』についてもお話しいただきました。
どのご活動も、「エカテリーナの美しい歌声を、一人でも多くの人に届けたい」という思いに端を発しています。先週の放送で、エカテリーナさんはボニージャックスの「娘分」というお話が出ましたが、西脇さんが”娘”を思う気持ちはそれほどまでに強いんですね。国境を越えた”家族愛”でお二人はつながっているんだな〜と、何だか”ほっこり”した気持ちになりました。先週の放送前はめちゃくちゃ緊張しましたが、今は逆に、ふわっとした気持ちです。僕も西脇さんのように、素敵に年を重ねていきたいと思いました。
