Sorry for the delay. I would like to tell you about my cooking class before happy memories are erased.
みなさん、遅くなってごめんなさい。思い出が消えないうちに、昨日の楽しいお料理教室のご報告させていただきますね。
A group which asked me to teach cooking is called “Chuo-ku Female Overseas Training Students’ Association”. They started a cooking class in ’96 and I’m the 15th instructor.
私に「お料理を教えてくれませんか」と声をかけてくれたのは「中央区女性海外研修者の会」の皆さんでした。この会では１９９６年から年に１回「台所から世界が見える」という、外国人の方たちが自分たちのお料理を教える教室を開いています。ちょうど私で１５人目です。
Yesterday I taught people – mainly women – how to cook borscht and piroshki, really famous Russian dishes among Japanese. First of all, I told them a recipe for borscht.
私が昨日皆さんと一緒に作ったのは、日本人にもおなじみのロシア料理「ボルシチ」と「ピロシキ」でした。まずは皆さんに、ボルシチの作り方からお伝えしました。
Everyone called me “Sensei! (Teacher) “. It was a little bit embarrassing for me because I’m not used to be called like that. Oh, even if you call me sensei, don’t imitate the way I cut potatoes. It’s kind of dangerous!
私のことを、皆さんが「先生！」って呼んでくれて嬉しいような恥ずかしいような・・・でも、私のじゃがいもの切り方だけは、けっこう危ないのでマネしないように！（笑）
They saw a glimpse of my instruction and started cooking. Because they’re housewives, it means they are good cooks.
普段お料理が得意な奥様たち。ちょっとご覧になっただけで、すぐにご自分たちで始めてしまいました。
Secondly I taught them how to make piroshki. Some groups forgot to put yogurt and sugar in doughs, but I helped and barely OK.
お次はピロシキ。材料にヨーグルトやお砂糖を入れ忘れたグループもありましたが（笑）それに気がついてすぐに入れて、何とかギリギリセーフ。

Sorry, I have no photo of finished ones… because Tokuhashi san, who took photos of a class, was really hungry so cleared his plates before taking shots!
ごめんなさい、完成品の写真がないんです・・・だって、写真係の徳橋さんったら、すごくお腹がすいていて、写真を撮る前に食べちゃったんだって！
Mr. Yoshihide Yada, Chuo-ku mayor, ate my dishes with keen relish! I found that he has a very smooth skin. I was surprised when I heard that he is 70!
中央区の矢田美英区長さんも、私の作ったお料理をおいしそうに食べて下さいました！とってもお肌がツルツルでピカピカの区長さん、７０歳だなんてビックリ！
After lunch, we reviewed our lessons.
お食事が終わったあと、もう一度ボルシチとピロシキの作り方をおさらいしました。
Then we took some group photos. Thank you everyone! I’m really, really happy to live in Chuo-ku!
