YAKATABUNE is a traditional Japanese flat-bottom party boat. (Yakatabune literally means “roof-shaped boat”). Partying on yakatabune is an ancient tradition. From Heian Period through Edo Period, these boats were a fun and popular way for shoguns, aristocrats, samurais and wealthy middle-class types to escape the heat of summer.<\/p>\n
