I learned the existence of “food bank” for the first time on the last session. I heard shocking stories about foods, which are thrown in garbages even though those are not past the use-by date.
\nAs for the expiration date, we can check it here in Japan. We can check whether it’s safe or not. But when I was young in the Soviet years, I think food manufacturers didn’t open-date. So we had to figure out if foods were fresh when we bought them.<\/p>\n

One day I found a canned food at a supermarket in the former Soviet Union. It was swollen because of gas evolution. But I bought it and opened.
\nI was really surprised! Because it was almost rotten. My friend reproved me for buying such a swollen one.<\/p>\n

It may be that the date of packing was on a can. So I need to judge whether it was safe or not when I was going to buy it.
\nI’ll return temporarily to Russia this August. I’ll go and see a local supermarket as soon as I arrive home.<\/p>\n
